The travellers who go to the Visitor Center in piazza Minerva looking for information, are immediately greeted by a surprise that welcomes them to Siracusa in a way they perhaps don’t expect. The name of the surprise is Siracusa Experience, a virtual reconstruction of the main interest points of the city, like the Athenaion, the Artemision, the Oikos, the Apollonion and the Greek Theatre: these monuments are shown as they would have appeared at the time of their utmost splendour. By wearing state-of-the-art visors, the guests find themselves immersed in historical reconstructions, created by combining live footage and virtual reality, a mix that both enthralls and excites them.
Created by a company made up of young people, and supported by the Comune of Siracusa and the Foundation Comunità Val di Noto, Siracusa Experience allows the visitors to linger virtually by the columns of the Athenaion, built at the request of the tyrant Hiero to celebrate his own deeds, or to admire the beauty of the Theatre, which was renovated by Hiero the Second during the III century b.C..
The pictures and the reconstructions are accompanied by a brief and engaging description, drawn up from the most recent scientific studies, and available in multiple languages (Italian, English, French, Spanish and German), which describes the monuments and the relevant historical contexts.
